Why Steward Exists

We started Steward Garage Door Service for one simple reason: we got tired of the way the industry treated our neighbors.

The pattern was always the same — a spring breaks on a Saturday morning, a national call center routes the job to whichever technician is closest, the price on the truck is double what was quoted on the phone, and the homeowner gets pushed into a $700 spring replacement they didn't need. What “Steward” Means to Us

A steward is someone entrusted with the care of something valuable. We chose the name because that's how we want every visit to feel — your garage door is the largest moving part of your home, and when something fails it can be dangerous, expensive, or both. We treat the work like you'd treat it yourself: carefully, honestly, and only doing what actually needs doing.

Is it safe to fix a broken spring myself?

No. Garage door springs are under extreme tension and are the most dangerous part of the door. Spring and cable work should always be done by a trained technician with the right tools.

How long does a garage door spring last?

Most springs are rated for around 10,000 open-close cycles — roughly 7 to 12 years depending on how often you use the door. If one spring breaks, we usually recommend replacing both.
