Why Springs Fail
Your garage door's springs do almost all the heavy lifting. They counterbalance a door that can weigh 150 pounds or more, so your opener — and your hands — only have to manage a small fraction of that weight.
Springs are rated for a set number of open-and-close cycles, commonly around 10,000. With everyday use that is roughly 7 to 12 years before metal fatigue causes the spring to snap. When it does, the door becomes extremely heavy and unsafe to operate.
Springs are under tremendous tension and are the single most dangerous garage door part to service — this is not a DIY job. Steward's trained technicians replace them with correctly-sized, high-cycle springs and re-balance the door so it runs smoothly and safely for years.
